The Viper Dragon 2018

I've worked on this piece on an off since June 2018. Since my boyfirend Jamie loves dragons I chose to challenge myself since making up original creatures is something I need to work on as well as backgrounds. I've learned a lot during the making, it was a great and exhausting experience.

Painting scales

Again I didnt like the final look of the scales, I thought it looked to repetetive and non organic so... Changing the scale pattern to a hand painted one inspired by bush vipers

I wasnt satisfied with the original pose in my sketch so I added another leg

Adding light effect to its wing. I used a custom brush I had downloaded prior to starting this project.

I was experimenting with a few custom brushes here trying to get a scaly look. I later changed my mind about this and used a scale specific brush.

I was focusing a lot on the background in the beginning. I was probably a bit worried to start on the dragon as well
